I'm into Plurals!

March 12, 2010

Hello blog-ettes and blog-eurs, I hope this finds you all well. I come bearing exciting news about upcoming shows, yes you read that write, shows in the plural!

I have recently had a positive response to an application for the Grassington Festival, an arts festival in North Yorkshire. I shall be showing a series of pieces entitled ‘Beachy Nostalgia Etc’ as part of a group exhibition in the town hall.

This series of work considers specific events that occur on the beach; day trips and holidays. I have examined these events from two opposing perspectives: the nostalgic romanticism that we all place on these memories and conversely the feelings of isolation and abandonment that can arise from social gatherings.

The festival is an arts extravaganza, with music, comedy and visual arts on the bill. It runs from June 11th – 27th and there really is something for everyone. So, I hope to see you all there at some point during the fortnight!!!

Lastly, as you can see from the images above, I have confirmed the opening night for my solo show at Projeto Gallery in Keighley. It should be a blast with some vino, some cheese and some tunes. All that in addition, of course, to my awe inspiring art!!! So grab a friend and come along!!!

(If you've not seen the Beachy Things Project page yet simply go to the 'Home' page and click on the link. It'll take you straight there!)

It's called The World Beach Project and has been developed by internationally renowned artist Sue Lawty (resident artist at the V&A museum in London.) The aim of the project is to...
